Eating Habits, Anxiety and Depression in Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Clinical and Laboratory Comparisons

Aim : to assess the level of stress hormones (cortisol in saliva), neurotransmitters (serotonin blood serum, dopamine plasma) relation eating habits, anxiety and depression levels patients with IBS. Materials methods . An open cohort prospective study was conducted inclusion 263 an established diagnosis IBS, among them 189 (71.9 %) women 74 (28.1 men. The average age IBS 29 [25; 35] years. control group included 40 healthy volunteers. All individuals were assessed for diet habits using WHO CINDI program questionnaire, “Information on Nutrition Eating Behavior”, severity according HADS specific gastrointestinal symptoms VSI quality life IBS-QoL questionnaire. In addition, enzyme immunoassay method used cortisol morning evening portions saliva, serotonin serum plasma.
